The University of Sydney (USYD) has soared back to the top of Australian university athletics, claiming both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s overall titles at the 2025 UniSport Nationals Athletics Championship, held in the Gold Coast from 22\u201324 April.<\/p>\n

The University of Sydney crowned the 2025 UniSport Nationals Athletics Champions<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

With dominant performances across three action-packed days, USYD cemented its reputation as the powerhouse of university athletics, taking home the G.R. Hulbert Women\u2019s Overall Champions Trophy and the Tony Booth Men\u2019s Overall Champions Trophy.<\/p>\n

      This year\u2019s championships brought together more than 480 student-athletes from 38 member universities, who competed at the fantastic Gold Coast Performance Centre. With pride, passion, and podium dreams at the forefront, athletes pushed boundaries and etched their names into UniSport Athletics history.<\/p>\n

      \u201cTo see this level of competition, sportsmanship, and university spirit on display is exactly what UniSport events are all about,\u201d said UniSport CEO, Mark Sinderberry, \u201cthe achievements of these student-athletes inspire not only their peers but future of university sports stars in Australia too.\u201d<\/p>\n

      The 2025 edition will be remembered not just for the gripping competition, but for the remarkable individual and team efforts that are now a part of university athletics history.<\/p>\n

      Standout performances from the event included Bronte Oates of the University of Technology Sydney, who defied rain and gusty winds to dominate the Women\u2019s 5000m; Olympian Rebecca Henderson of The University of Melbourne, who delivered a masterclass in the Women\u2019s 5000m Race Walk; Christopher Geordas, a UNSW Sydney student who clocked a new championship record in the Men\u2019s 200m; and the 4x400m relay team from Western Sydney University all lit up Nationals with some electric performances.<\/p>\n

      Across the three-day championship, a total of 15 UniSport Championship records were broken, highlighting the depth of talent across the track and field:<\/p>\n
