Is what you are presenting representative of the diversity of your club membership?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Your aim should be to showcase diversity in your club and how it is important to you. It can put people off if the diversity in your images doesn\u2019t match the diversity in your club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When on recruitment drives, position previous support on LGBTIQ+ inclusion in a prominent position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u200bChecklist:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200ba. Are you using real life images and avoiding stereotypes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n b. \u200bAre you posting content that celebrates all parts of your club\u2019s community?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Language, whether written or verbal, can have a profound impact on individuals and communities. It is therefore important to consistently use inclusive language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200bTips:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200ba. Use simple, direct language to convey a message<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200bb. Use inclusive language consistently \u2013 not just in the presence of a \u2018diverse\u2019 person \u2013 this will send a clear message to other members of your club that your club is inclusive and welcoming<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200bc. Review your messaging, policies, procedures, and titles to ensure that they are gender inclusive<\/p>\n\n\n\n d. \u200bDon’t use language that groups people based on their physical, sexual or other attributes<\/p>\n\n\n\n e. \u200bUse correct terminology and be aware of definitions. Use a person\u2019s preferred pronouns (see below for more information)<\/p>\n\n\n\n What are pronouns?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200bA pronoun is a word that refers to either the people talking (I or you) or someone \/ something that is being talked about (like she, it, them, and this).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pronouns like he, she and they specifically refer to the people that you are talking about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As individuals, we convey our respect and help others to recognise who we are referencing when we accurately use a person\u2019s pronouns to refer to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How do I know which one to use? You can ask!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200ba. Ask directly, \u2018what pronouns do you use?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200bb. Listen to what pronouns other people are using for that person<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200bc. Ask someone who knows that person to tell you<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200bd. Include it as a standard question on forms and registrations, as well as your email signature<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u200bWhat if I mess up?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n It is totally normal for mistakes to happen while you are getting used to something new.
